A customer who alleged that she fell while ordering a meal at a Mexican fast food restaurant sued for negligence. The roof was leaking which caused a puddle of water to form. She slipped and fell backwards and hit her head on the floor.

An ambulance was called to take her to the hospital. She was diagnosed with a concussion and three disc herniations. She had a cervical fusion, three screws implanted and six months of physical therapy.

She sued. The jury awarded her $1,351,362.

If you had to pay this out of your own pocket, would it put you out of business? You could pay $5000 a month for your business insurance for 22 years and still pay less than this in premiums.
